Scrutineering : Some notes on two issues that commonly arise. This is to give everyone some forewarning before events so they can come suitably equipped for the event and thus shall not be disappointed / delayed by problems at Scrutineering (Technical Control)

Number plates - As always the rules are the same (see your ACU handbook);

• 125cc - White numbers on Black background
• 250cc - White numbers on Green background - Both 250 two and four strokes
• 251-350cc - White numbers on Blue background
• 351-500cc - Black numbers on Yellow background - ie 450cc *
• 501cc plus - Black numbers on White background
• Sidecars - Black numbers on Yellow background

ie not what happens in the British Champs, America, Youth or the AMCA

* = The 2005 handbook has a misprint for 351-500cc and riders will not be penalised for comply with the misprint

Sprocket guards - A front sprocket guard is required, not a "case saver" (which is "the bit of alloy that goes in front of the sprocket but does not cover it")

News : After a recent committee meeting it was confirmed that

• The combine meeting at Winterpick will go ahead (more details to follow) - baring any DEFRA issues
• A new sighting lap of practice will be introduced
• Cheques may be banked before the event (at clubs discretion). This is due to the now regular occurrence of bounced cheques. Riders who fail to turn up despite entering and paying will (as they do now) have to sufficiently explain themselves to the club who may at their discretion offer a refund (one possible example - you break your leg).
