South Eastern Centre Motocross Combine Minutes April 1997

MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE SOUTH EASTERN MOTOCROSS COMBINE HELD ON SUNDAY 20TH APRIL 1997 AT CANADA HEIGHTS.

PRESENT : 9 Delegates were present representing the following Clubs :- Brighton , Crawley, GEST, Greenwich, Horsham, Sidcup & Twickenham.

CHAIR : Mr Eddie Herd took the Chair.

APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE : Apologies for absence were received from Alan Barley [ Sporting Elite ] and George Edwards [ Horsham ].

MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING : It was proposed Mrs. Simpson and seconded Mr Brown that the Minutes of the previous meeting held on 4th December were a true and accurate reflection of what went on. Carried.

MATTERS ARISING THEREFROM : There were no matters arising that were not covered by the agenda.

PARAMEDICS AT ALL MEETINGS : Mrs. Clarke said that she had spoken to the Red Cross Branch that service Canada Heights, they do sometimes have a paramedic present but could not guarantee it. If this was to be the case they would have to pre book someone at a cost of £100. Mr Moores [ GEST ] said the same applied to them. There was also the question of a paramedic going to hospital with a rider - would the meeting then have to be held up until he returned? After some discussion it was felt generally by everyone present that it was a good idea but that we should leave this as a recommendation to have one if at all possible . We would not force the issue unless it came from the ACU who had failed to pass it at General Council last year.

NUMBER SYSTEM : Mr Batten said this unfortunately had failed to get off the ground because Crawley had done a U turn and refused to use the system.

NEW ENTRY AND SIGNING ON FORMS : Mrs. Clarke raised the matter as she felt things were not clear with the new forms. The ACU had issued for the British Championship a two sided form which had to be signed by under age parents and witnessed, both the South Midland and eastern Centre Gazettes had adopted this style whilst our one had not. The wording was also contradictory with the new signing on forms regarding inspecting the track and when she had queried this with the ACU she was told they were not cast in stone and could be amended ! Mr Herd suggested we write to Geoff Wilson for clarification. He had queried the fact Officials were to sign now to say they had read NSC and the Handbook even though they are not issued with any. It was thought perhaps the Centre should issue rule books to anyone with an Officials Licence. Mr Moores said the new signing on form was very small , there was place for the riding number and it was not in duplicate. Mr Wood [ Gazette Editor ] said he could supply some sticky labels to use over the old stock.

AGE STATUS ON REGULATIONS ; Mrs. Clarke said they had a query on their recent practice day regulations which appeared in the Gazette, the meeting was for adults only and several schoolboy dads had rung complaining it did not mention this. Mrs. Clarke said she thought regs used to say for Adult only, it was agreed this could be added to regulations without too much trouble.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS : Mr Moores asked that a separate list of results be published at an Allcomers Meeting. Mr Batten assured him the separate results were always forwarded to the recorder. Agreed this was possible. Mr Dixon gave all Clubs the latest positions in the Championships and updated rules.

DATE, TIME & PLACE OF NEXT MEETING : It was agreed, that unless something came up for urgent discussion, the next meeting would probably be to discuss the Moto Cross Dates. There being nothing further to discuss the meeting closed at 7.30 pm.
