ACU Centenary Supper 2003

Report - by Alan Clarke

On Saturday last, the South Eastern Centre ACU President, Roger Brown, entertained a capacity gathering of 220 competitors and their partners, at the Grasshopper restaurant near Westerham, Kent.

The evening, part of the Centre's celebrations of 100 years of ACU sport, was in the form of a Centenary Supper. There was no music and no speeches, just a great deal of Bonhomie, coupled with a wonderful sense of camaraderie.

The oldest competitor present, Don Overhill started his completive career in 1928, whilst the youngest, 16 year old Nicola Clarke rode in her first trial last year and there were many in-between!

During the evening, Mr Jim Bacon, representing the ACU Benevolent fund, was presented with a cheque for £2,000, being the proceeds of the evening. To those of you who did not attend, you missed a great evening.
